The holidays are here once more.
Thanksgiving day will be over before
this article comes out. I wonder how the
world will have celebrated.
In these trying times will we take time
to give thanks for what we DO have? Will
those with an abundance share with all
of God's other children who may not have
food, warm homes, or clothing? What
about the lonely--or the grieving--will
we bless them by sharing or calling to
say we care?
And what about the holidays celebrated
by so many of various faiths? Do we wish
them well and God's blessings.
Christmas is just around the corner. We
Christians spend time decorating our
homes and our yards. The trees are all
in their glory- lights shining and stars
or angels placed on the top. The
Christmas dinners cook as people gather
around their trees opening gifts.
Stores have 'sales' enticing even those
who have little to spend. Expectations
are high as children ask Santa for each
thing on their lists. (Money grows on
trees???)
It's wonderful------and we all have
celebrated in this way. We all are
guilty. But what about the true meaning?
Do we view the spectacular lights as
Holy? Do we look beyond the glitter and
view the sacred star? Do we remember
that the baby, Jesus, was born not just
for a few but for all?
Is Christmas (and maybe Easter) the only
time we enter God's house?
Does this celebration say to you- "We
are the only ones God loves?"
If so, you are missing the HOLY
LIGHT!!!!!!!!!! God did not send His Son
just for me--or you. He sent Him to
guide us to love-----and He left the
Holy Spirit within each of our hearts.
Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Native
American, those of all colors and
countries are His. It is we who have
made wars, separated ourselves from the
peace that passeth all understanding.
I ask you this year to follow the
Wisemen, the Shepards, the
Angels---greet your brothers and sisters
with a smile - and perhaps even make
your gift to the hungry, the needy, the
cold and the depressed. Be an example of
that Holy Blessed Light.
